Actor Bruce Willis put his action-movie training to good use on Sunday when he was forced to leap to safety off a runaway escalator.

Willis and his publicist Paul Bloch were headed to a screening of his movie, Red, at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York when the moving walkway they were traveling on suddenly accelerated.

A source tells Page Six, “The escalator taking guests down to the theatre accelerated to near-carnival-ride speed. Women started screaming and one did a high-flying jump off, nearly landing on Bruce.”

And Bloch admits the pair was forced to leap off the walkway to avoid injury, adding, “We had to jump, it was going so fast.”

No one was injured and the escalator stopped as abruptly as it sped up.
