We thought we had seen it all when Venus Williams revealed more than her athletic skills during the French Open. She is flaunting her underwear once again at the U.S. Open.
The tennis star and fashion designer has been sporting several sheer dresses that she designed to be worn over flesh colored underwear. Fans and competitors have seen way more of Williams than they ever imagined. The form fitting dresses have a tendency to ride up at the slightest provocation — causing Venus to spend more time adjusting than swinging her racket.
The CBS commentators started to count the number of times Venus tugged the garment back into place. When asked, following her Sunday win, if the constant need to readjust had been a source of distraction, Williams replied: “No. The only thing that bothered me was when I didn’t win the point. That was it.”
While wearing the pink sheer outfit she defeated No. 18 seed Shahar Peer in straight sets. She chose an identical style in black for her Friday match, and handily beat Mandy Minella of Luxembourg.
Will we see a similar outfit on Tuesday when Venus goes head to head against Francesca Schiavone of Italy in the Quarterfinals? Count on it…
Also flaunting her yellow underwear was the #1 seed, gorgeous Danish athlete Caroline Wozniacki. She is favored to win it all.
