The New York Giants shocked the world last night as the underdogs beat the favored New England Patriots 17-14 in Super Bowl XVII, and Eli Manning kept the Super Bowl MVP in the family, making it the first Super Bowl in a few years that I wasn’t just sitting around waiting on the commercials.

So what about the commercials this year? Did they measure up to the hype. I, for one, think not.

First of all, as I said, we finally had an exciting Super Bowl. Secondly, many of the ads seemed over-produced, perhaps because advertisers know that watching the Super Bowl for the commercials has become such a tradition in American households that they are trying a bit too hard to grab our attention.
