Carla Bruni, 39, is gorgeous and talented. She was first known as an exquisite supermodel. She has since launched a singing and song writing career. Her most recent feat, however, is that she has captured the heart of French President Nicolas Sarkozy. He has reportedly asked for her hand in marriage and has given Bruni until January 1, 2008 to give her answer.

What’s to think about? Of course she will say yes. She may not have aspired to become the first lady of France but certainly the title must have a certain ring to it. Actually, Bruni is an heiress and will inherit a fortune from the Perelli tire manufacturing business. Her father is a classical composer and her mother a concert pianist.

Talk about your whirlwind courtship. Sarkozy and second wife Cecelia divorced in mid October. The former supermodel met Sarkozy at a dinner party on November 23. The two have been inseparable over the past month. The model turned folksinger is said to be sporting a pink solitaire diamond on her left hand.

Sarkozy has two sons from his first marriage and one son with his second wife. Bruni has a 6 year old son from a previous relationship. The boy has been in the care of his grandmother while Bruni has been traveling in Cairo, Egypt with Sarkozy. The two will join family in the Alps for a New Years skiing holiday.

We’ve included additional photos of the lovely Carla and her new man.
