Barbara Walters sat down with “The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2007”. The 15th annual broadcast included actors and actresses, celebrity couples, athletes, politicians and a few surprises.
Soccer superstar David Beckham and his wife, Spice Girl “Posh” Victoria Beckham made the 2007 list. Posh Spice couldn’t explain why she frowns in public. Becks indicates he’d love more kids, although from the reaction of his wife it doesn’t seem to be on the top of her ‘to do’ list.
Don Imus, who fell from grace in April of 2007 for remarks that he made about some Rutger’s athletes was contrite during his interview. He and his wife Diedre and son Wyatt have spent the majority of the year at their ranch in New Mexico. The ranch serves as a haven for ill children.
American Idol contestant and Academy Award winner Jennifer Hudson was soft spoken and grateful for the fantasy year that she has enjoyed since her breakout role in Dream Girls catapulted her to celebrity status.
Jennifer Heigl, Emmy Award winner and actress Izzie on the hit show Grey’s Anatomy was equally modest. She claims that she is actually a very normal person and not in the least fascinating. She and rocker Josh Kelley are in the midst of planning a wedding. Asked if she was leery of a rockers life style, she indicated they have a set of rules posted at home laying out the rules. Asked about the Isaiah Washington furor that ensued last year, she said things are much more peaceful now on the set. She held no ill will toward the actor but said she is a firm believer in consequences.
Pop singer Justin Timberlake rather enjoyed Walter’s comment that he is bringing back sexy. He has also been referred to as the King of Sex. The 26 year old said he’ll accept that and thumbed his nose at George Clooney and Brad Pitt for their sexiest man of the year titles. When asked about his relationship with actress Jessica Biel, Timberlake softened considerably and said that they were doing great. He stressed the point several times. Lucky woman.
Former President William Jefferson Clinton told Walter’s that Hillary has superior organizational intelligence. He also acknowledged that he loved his time in the White House and would be willing to take on some of the roles formerly attended to by First Ladies.
MySpace media moguls Tom Anderson and Chris DeWolfe were also on hand to chat with Walters. They set her up with a MySpace page and she has recently lamented on her daytime talk show The View, that she still doesn’t have any friends. I expect that has changed since the remark. The social networking website is said to be worth $580 million.
The number two pick was Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, who earlier this year called President George W. Bush a dunk, a liar and dumb. Chavez claims that his mentor is Fidal Castro. Chavez wants people to know that he is saving South America from proverty. Some claim that he is seeking too much power. His recent attempts to change his governments constitution to allow him to be elected again were defeated.
The number one most fascinating person of 2007 was J.K. Rowlings. She sent her first Harry Potter manuscript to twelve publishers before she found one that would publish. She was paid the not so princely sum of $4,000 . She has come a long way, baby, since then. She released the last of the Harry Potter series this year.
