Despite Britney Spears‘ best efforts at sabotaging her career with her train wreck personal life, she seems poised to succeed in spite of herself.

On the first day of it’s release, Britney’s new album, Blackout, sold an estimated 124,000 copies and is expected to take the number one slot from Carrie Underwood‘s Carnival Ride on the Billboard 200 chart.

Underwood scored the best first-week sales of any female artist in 2007, selling 527,000 albums.

Yesterday morning, Spears said her favorite track on the album was “Heaven and Earth,” before trotting off to take a shower in the middle of a live interview with Ryan Seacrest.
