Jessica Simpson is engaged to NFL free agent Eric Johnson.
Simpson’s rep confirmed the engagement on Sunday, saying, “Yes, we are excited to confirm that they are engaged!”
“They are thrilled,” says the rep.
Johnson proposed on Thursday, with a Neil Lane engagement ring featuring a ruby flanked by two diamonds.
The couple met through mutual friends, and began dating in May.
Simpson has had her share of heartache, including very public and ill-fated romances with Tony Romo and John Mayer, after a painful divorce from Nick Lachey.
Mayer caught heat for an interview with Playboy magazine, in which he commented Simpson was like “sexual napalm,” while Romo infamously dumped the pop star the night before her 29th birthday.
Simpson said she and her man plan to spend Thanksgiving together in New York. “I’m gonna be on a float. It’s not always the best way to spend a Thanksgiving, but it’s a great way to celebrate. So, maybe I’ll just have all families on the float.”
Not everyone is thrilled for Jessica. Ken Paves, Simpson’s longtime hairdresser and fallback guy when her former romances turned sour, told E! that they have “separated professionally.”
Ironically, Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo announced their engagement a few days ago. Coincidence?
