Medical Examiner arrives at Manhattan SoHo death scene…

Mark Madoff, the 46-year-old son of Bernie Madoff, committed suicide on the second anniversary of his father’s arrest in the largest Ponzi scheme in history.

The younger Madoff’s body was discovered in his New York City apartment by his father-in-law at 7:30 a.m. Saturday. The deceased was fully-clothed and found hanged in his living room. His body was dangling from a black dog leash wrapped around a ceiling pipe, not far from where his 2-year-old son Nicholas was sleeping in a nearby bedroom.

Wife Stephanie Madoff, who was in Florida with the couples 4-year-old daughter Audrey, received an email message from her husband asking her to have someone check on their son. She sent her father — who walked in on the grizzly scene.

Mark worked as a broker at his father’s firm. Court appointed trustee Irving Picard, assigned to recover assets for victims, filed a $900 million lawsuit against Mark, his brother Andy and others on Friday. They have both been part of a federal criminal investigation. The sons were the ones who turned their father in for his crimes.

Bernie Madoff bilked investors out of $65 billion and is serving 150 years in prison at Butner Federal Correction Complex in North Carolina.

Mark Madoff put his Nantucket home on the market in June, listing it for $7.5 million and was reportedly frustrated to the point of tears at his inability to get hired at another investment firm.

Madoff’s lawyer Martin Flumenbaum said in a statement: “Mark Madoff took his own life today. This is a terrible and unnecessary tragedy. Mark was an innocent victim of his father’s monstrous crime who succumbed to two years of unrelenting pressure from false accusations and innuendo. We are deeply saddened by this shocking turn of events.”
