It has been three years since Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre has lost a round. Last night at the much anticipated UFC 124 bout against Josh Koscheck, the champ made it clear that he was there to fight. The one-man show brought GSP his seventh straight victory in a title fight.

By the time the first round ended, Koscheck’s right eye was nearly swollen shut. It was over in Round 5 and the hand of GSP was raised in victory once more.

The event at the Bell Centre in Montreal was attended by 23,000 screaming fans who came to see GSP take out Koscheck. It was a unanimous decision by all three judges who scored it 50-45 for the French Canadian.

St. Pierre, 29, wanted a knock-out and apologized to his fans afterward for not reaching his goal. “At the end, I saw his eye was closed, so I tried to go with hooks to take him out, but he’s very tough. I didn’t reach my goal tonight. My goal was to take him out. Sorry, everyone.”

Koscheck said after the fight: “He had a great game plan and executed it well. It shows why he’s #1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world.”

Dana White awarded both men a $100,000 bonus for ‘fight of the night’. Check out Koscheck’s eye and watch the post fight interview below:
