In the biggest shocker of Season 10 on American Idol, Pia Toscano was eliminated from competition during Rock & Roll Hall of Fame week on April 7, 2011. She finished in ninth spot and will join the group for the Idol Summer Tour.
This week the 22-year-old brunette from Howard Beach, New York, sang an Ike & Tina Turner hit River Deep – Mountain High.
Prior to Idol, Pia worked as a make-up artist and a wedding singer in a band called Current Affair. She performed with Josh Groban at Madison Square Garden on the chorus of You Raise Me Up and has opened for the Barenaked Ladies.
Randy Jackson and Jennifer Lopez hung their heads while Pia took the microphone to sing a farewell rendition of I’ll Stand By You, the same song that earned her a standing ovation and high praise from the judges, who told her it was one of the best performances in Idol history.
