Duchess and Duke of Cambridge

The Royal Wedding went off without a hitch in London on Friday, April 29. Royal watchers across the globe tuned in to watch the biggest spectacle since the 1981 wedding of Prince William‘s parents, Lady Diana Spencer and Prince Charles.

Based upon April 2011 polls, women were twice as likely to watch the event. The Brit’s enjoyed a national holiday, whether they chose to tune in, line the streets or take in unrelated activities.

Kate Middleton and the rest of her bridal party were well cared for at the Goring Hotel prior to the ceremony. Prince Charles spent Thursday evening dining with Prince William and Prince Harry.

Perhaps the most closely guarded secret has been all about Kate’s wedding dress–what would it look like and who designed it. The world discovered on Friday morning, when she arrived at Westminster Abbey, that the designer was Sarah Burton – photos and details here.

The service at Westminster Abbey, witnessed by 1,900 guests, began on schedule at 11:00 London time. When Prince Charles married Lady Diana, their ceremony was witnessed by 3,500 guests – see Diana’s vintage wedding photos here.

Following the ceremony, The Queen hosted a luncheon reception at Buckingham Palace for a select group of 600 guests. It was during this time frame that the newly married Royals made an appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony, and exchanged a kiss for the cheering crowd.

The Prince of Wales will host a private evening dinner for 300, followed by dancing, at Buckingham Palace for the couple and their closest friends and family. Check out the Royal Wedding Singer.

Prince Harry was impressive in his dress uniform and Pippa Middleton looked absolutely stunning.
