Comedian and actress Amy Poehler was the speaker for Harvard’s 2011 Class Day, delivering the speech with her characteristic wit and sass.
“Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your beers,” she began. “I can only assume I am here today because of my subtle and layered work in a timeless classic entitled Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo. And for that I say, ‘You’re welcome.'”
“Just because you are wicked smart doesn’t mean you are better than me,” Poehler told the graduating seniors.
The SNL alum ended the fifteen minute speech with some final advice, “Would it kill you to be nicer to your parents? They have sacrificed so much for you and all they want is for you to smile and take a picture with your weird cousins. Do that for them. And with less eye-rolling, please.” She added, “It is time to leave. Oprah has spoken!”
