Canadian and American men and women have joined together to express how malignant melanoma has affected their lives. The result is an amazingly emotional public service announcement urging young people to be vigilant.
The cast, comprised of adult survivors who wish they could go back and warn themselves at 16, share their skin cancer stories.
It’s a strong message of realizing that as an adult, there was so much you didn’t know when you were young: “If I had only known then, what I know now.”
Did you know that people with fair skin and red hair are at greater risk? One bad sunburn before age 18 can double your chance of getting skin cancer. Teens, especially those with skin moles, should take 10 minutes each month to check themselves for changes in color, size or shape.
The video, produced by the David Cornfield Melanoma Fund, urges people to pass along this important message to a 16-year-old that you know. We were inspired to do so. It’s a powerful PSA, to say the least, and it could save the life of someone you love.
