Jersey Shore‘s Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino has sued Abercrombie & Fitch in an ongoing feud between the reality star and the retailer.
Sorrentino is asking for $4,000,000 in damages, claiming the clothing company “wrongly used his name, image and likeness for advertising purposes in violation of applicable law.”
In August, Abercrombie made headlines by offering to pay cast members of the MTV reality show not to wear their apparel, claiming that Sorrentino “could cause significant damage” to the brand’s “aspirational nature.”
Sorrentino alleges he was never offered money if he would stop wearing Abercrombie apparel. “That offer was never made to Sorrentino, nor was it ever conveyed to Sorrentino by a representative,” the lawsuit states.
The suit claims the company “has significantly profited off of the use of its false affiliation with Sorrentino,” targeting two of the retailer’s T-shirts with the phrases “The Fitchuation” and “GTL…You Know The Deal.”
“The Situation” and “GTL” — an acronym for gym, tan, laundry, were trademarked by Sorrentino and MPS Entertainment in 2009.
