Regis Philbin is developing a TV concept that will be a new twist on the currently popular talent competitions. He and a group of collaborators are brainstorming a family talent show.

Striking while he is still relevant, the 80-year-old veteran talk show host has formed RAF Productions with former Regis & Kelly director Barry Glazer and executive producers Edward Watson and Cort Cassidy.

Philbin told Page Six, “We’re contemplating a show that is sort of a talent show, but it involves the whole family. A family competition is something new in our business. It’s going to be on primetime when it happens.”

He has also been approached by another producer, Michael Manshel, about a variety show format. Reeg isn’t sure people will jump on that bandwagon because ‘variety’ has fallen out of favor with viewers. He believes the real draw is regular people demonstrating extraordinary talent.

So just how do the television personality and his youthful-looking wife Joy Philbin manage to keep the ravages of time at bay? Only their high-profile dermatologist knows for sure!

Does Philbin still have enough star power to make a ‘go’ of it in primetime?
