Jimmy Fallon returned to his SNL roots Saturday night, and brought along former cast members Tina Fey, Amy Poelher and Seth Meyers for a Weekend Update Joke Off.
Fallon, who spent six years on the Saturday Night Live stage as a cast member, said it felt like coming home when he returned last night as host.
“This place means so much to me. All I’ve ever wanted my whole life was to be on this show. It’s just a dream come true,” Fallon said in the opening monologue — and you knew that he meant it.
Michael Buble was the musical guest and helped provide one of the night’s best sketches: Michael Buble’s Christmas Duets Album, with Kirsten Wiig as Taylor Swift, Taran Killam as Scott McCreery, Jay Pharoah as Kanyes West, a Christmas tree dressed up as Lady Gaga, and Fallon as Sting, Justin Bieber and Russell Brand. (Too bad last week’s host Katy Perry wasn’t around for Fallon’s imitation of her hubby.)
With hilarious cameo appearances from Rachel Dratch, Jude Law and others, Fallon’s homecoming is sure to be a classic episode.
