Even with all the hoopla surrounding the much touted David Fincher film, “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” was taken down by three chipmunks, a Scottish detective and a secret government agent over Christmas weekend.
“Dragon Tattoo,” which cost between $90 to $100 million to make, grossed $27.8 million in its first six days, bringing in $19.4 million over the four-day holiday weekend.
Beating out the highly anticipated film, were “Mission Impossible — Ghost Protocol” with $46.2 million, “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows” with $31.8 million, and “Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked” with $20 million.
