It was over before you knew it! Brock Lesnar lost last night in a first round TKO to Alistair Overeem at UFC 141 held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Overeem, in his UFC debut, ended the bout with a kick to his opponent’s stomach that made the heavyweight crumble at the side of the cage. Lesnar was unable to fight back as Alistair dove in, forcing referee Mario Yamasaki to call the fight–a win at the 2:26 mark of the first round.

Lesnar, who started his career as a pro wrestler, shocked the UFC crowd when he announced afterward, “This is the last time you’ll see me in the octagon.”

In the past two years Lesnar has only fought three times with a single win. He mentioned his struggle with bouts of lower-intestinal distress, “I’ve had a really difficult couple of years with my disease, and I’m going to officially say tonight is the last time.”

Overeem has now earned a shot at UFC heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos, who is currently healing from a knee injury and watched from a seat near the octagon.

After Lesnar’s big retirement announcement, UFC President Dana White claimed he was feeling too sick to speak, “I’m really not feeling good, let someone else talk.”
