Katy Perry is speaking out for the first time since Russell Brand filed for divorce in Los Angeles on December 31.

Her evangelical Christian pastor parents, Keith Hudson and Mary Hudson, weaved the break-up of their daughter’s marriage into their sermon while preaching at Church On The Rise in Westlake, Ohio last week.

The media latched on and has been having a field day with the quirky couple who raised a pop star and then used her success to fuel their ministry.

Katy’s mom told parishioners, “I’m sure Katy is trending on the internet just to get you to church tonight.” Her dad picked up on that theme, “What has taken place in my daughter’s life has opened up many opportunities to go in and be with guarded and gated people. God has given us a platform to go in and meet people — and they like us because we are cool.”

Over the weekend Perry had apparently had enough of the personal dialogue coming from her parents and used her Twitter page to send a message to the family:
