Jane Carrey, the 24-year-old daughter of comedian Jim Carrey, auditioned in San Diego for American Idol and impressed the panel of judges.
The young mother received the coveted golden ticket to Hollywood with her rendition of Something to Talk About by Bonnie Raitt.
Was she incredible? No…. but she was good. Randy thought she had “potential” and Jennifer would like her to work on performing without closing her eyes. Tyler says she has good melody but needs to work on her volume.
Jane revealed that she had a surprisingly normal childhood, was a bit of a “ham” and enjoyed appearing in school plays. She made Jim a grandfather nearly two years ago when she gave birth to a son, Jackson Riley Santana. She spends her time being a mom and working as a waitress.
Jennifer Lopez recalled seeing Jane as a 2-year-old, during the time J-Lo and Jim worked together on the 90’s comedy series In Living Color.
It is no secret that Idol is looking for a ratings boost. Could having Jim Carrey’s daughter on the show be just what they need?
We can’t help but notice that she looks a little like Miley Cyrus. Check out the audition video below:
