Denver Broncos running back Knowshon Moreno has been charged with drunk and careless driving and failure of proof of insurance after getting pulled over in south Denver on Wednesday, February 1st.
In an ironic twist, Moreno was driving a Bentley convertible with a personalized license plate that read “SAUCED.”
According to the Denver Police Department, the 24-year-old was driving in a construction zone, doing 70 in a 45. Police smelled alcohol, and when he performed poorly on a field sobriety test, they arrested him for DUI.
TMZ cites police as saying Moreno was “very respectful and polite.”
The Broncos released a statement Monday, saying, “We take the incident involving Knowshon Moreno very seriously and are thoroughly reviewing this matter. Our organization will continue to gather information and closely monitor this issue while the legal process runs its course.”
Moreno is currently rehabilitating a torn ACL he suffered during the 2011 season.
