The world was shocked yesterday by the news that legendary singer Whitney Houston had died.

Initial reports were sketchy but we have since learned that the entertainer was found unresponsive in the bathtub of her hotel room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

No illegal drugs were found in her room but investigators have taken several prescription bottles into evidence.

The 911 responders removed Houston’s body from the bathtub and tried unsuccessfully to revive the singer.

She was pronounced dead at 3:55 p.m. and her body was transported by the L.A. County Coroner’s Office to the morgue. An autopsy and toxicology screening will determine cause and manner of death.

Whitney’s daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown showed up on the 4th floor of the hotel after news of the shocking discovery but she was not allowed to see the body of her deceased mother.

According to witnesses, she screamed and cried and pleaded with LAPD but they would not allow her through. Another family member, cousin Dionne Warwick, also showed up and was denied access to the death scene.

Reports indicated that members of Houston’s entourage were in the room when authorities arrived and they were able to identify the body.
