We heard rumors in February that a handful of contestants on The Biggest Loser: No Excuses walked off the set in a dispute. Last night that episode aired and the strange details emerged.
As the camera crew arrived to begin shooting they discovered that Mark Cornelison, Buddy Shuh, Kim Neilson, and the brother-sister duo of Jeremy Britt and Conda Britt had staged a work stoppage after learning that an eliminated player would be allowed to vie for the top prize of $250,000.
A lawyer for NBC showed up to remind the five that they had signed contracts that clearly stated that players would be brought back to compete for a chance at the top prize.
Mark and Buddy packed up their things and left the ranch leaving Kim, Jeremy and Conda to compete against each other for the top two spots. We can’t help but wonder if this was part of Conda’s plan to eliminate more of the competition by getting everyone fired up and then deciding not the leave after two strong players bolted.
The show added a last minute surprise to properly motivate the disgruntled trio … a chance to win a 2012 Ford Escape SUV.
Bob Harper and Dolvett Quince worked their magic as evidenced by the startling weight loss numbers posted by the three remaining contestants. We’re guessing the span between the Washington D.C. weigh in and last night’s was more than 7 days.
Kim lost 15 pounds for a loss percentage of 9.26% of her total body weight. She looked like she was ready to tip over as she stood on the scales. But her efforts not only won her a spot in the finals but she took home the new car.
Conda and Jeremy each lost 10 pounds but the percentage ended up to be 4.88 versus 4.02 in her favor. We’re not counting him out just yet because next week we’ll see all of the returning contestants vying for a spot and Jeremy will be among them.
Ironically Mark’s son Chism and Buddy’s brother Ben will also return for a shot at earning a spot in the finale.
