Dick Clark 1929-2012
Dick Clark, known affectionately as “America’s Oldest Teenager,” died Wednesday after suffering a massive heart attack. The iconic host of American Bandstand was 82.
According to his rep the television personality checked into an L.A. hospital late Tuesday for an “outpatient procedure” and subsequently suffered a heart attack.
Clark’s long career began in 1945 and was still going strong when he suffered a debilitating stroke in 2004.
He was the popular game show host of Pyramid and began counting down the New Year from Times Square in 1972.
Dick was the winner of four Emmy Awards, had a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993.
Clark is survived by three children and his third wife, Kari Wigton.
