Jewel has been cast as country legend June Carter Cash in the upcoming Lifetime movie The June Carter Cash Story.
The biopic will portray her life as it was told by John Carter Cash in his memoir, Anchored in Love: An Intimate Portrait of June Carter Cash.
This marks the first major screen role for Jewel. She hopes to mimic the success of Reese Witherspoon, who earned an Academy Award for Best Actress for her inspired portrayal of the wife of Johnny Cash in Walk the Line.
Executive producer Rob Sharenow revealed, “Many people know about the legendary love story of Johnny and June, but June Carter Cash has her own epic journey filled with triumphs, tragedies, loves and losses. This movie will explore all aspects of the woman behind the icon, and we’re thrilled Jewel will be playing the role.”
Matt Ross of American Horror Story fame will co-star with Jewel, landing the role of Johnny Cash.
