Is a wedding in the works for the most famous power couple in Hollywood? The European media is speculating that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt will exchange marital vows this weekend at Chateau Miraval in France.
There is definitely a large party taking place … that much is known. Pitt’s parents Bill and Jane have already arrived to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with their son and his family. That said, it wouldn’t be the first time guests thought they were coming for one type of celebration and ended up witnessing a wedding too.
The French estate has a private chapel on the grounds that will likely be where guests witness the momentous occasion. A large building was recently erected next to the small church, further fueling speculation that a wedding was imminent.
According to Patrick Mareschi, an official from the village of Correns, “Under French law couples have to get married at the town hall.” He indicated they could hold a religious ceremony at their residence but a civil ceremony is required.
It will be a short jaunt for George Clooney, who has been in residence at his Como estate in Italy. Reports indicate that Angelina’s private jeweler has also traveled to France as a guest of the couple.
Brad and Angie hooked up during the filming of ‘Mr. and Mrs. Smith’ back in 2005, resulting in the breakup of his marriage to Jennifer Aniston.
Pitt and Jolie vowed they would not get married until everyone had the same opportunity, but after being pressured by their six children, the couple announced their engagement in April.
