Miami Dolphins wide receiver Chad Johnson was arrested for domestic violence Saturday after an an argument with his “Basketball Wives” star wife, Evelyn Lozada.

The couple, who were married on July 4th (see photos), returned home from grocery shopping when Lozada claims Johnson head-butted her after she confronted him about a receipt for condoms she found in their car.

According to the police report, Lozada “fled on foot to a neighbor’s house to get away from Johnson,” and called police from the neighbor’s home.

Lozada, who had a 3 inch laceration on her forehead, was treated at the scene and transported to a hospital.

Johnson, who recently changed his name from Chad Ochocinco, confirmed that he and Lozada were arguing, but says that she head-butted him.

The 34-year-old NFL player has not been in trouble before, but ironically, on last week’s episode of HBO’s “Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Miami Dolphins,” he jokingly said he was going to go out on his off day and get arrested.

Johnson was taken into custody at 8:53. p.m. and released from jail around 10:00 a.m. Sunday morning.

If convicted, Johnson faces a maximum penalty of one year in jail and a $1,000 fine, though he could also receive community service, probation or anger management classes.
