Early Sunday morning Olympic snowboarder Shaun White was arrested for public intoxication and vandalism. The incident took place at the Lowes Vanderbilt Hotel in Nashville.
Police were summoned at 2:00 a.m. after Shaun allegedly destroyed a hotel phone and pulled a fire alarm which caused the hotel to be evacuated. He fled the scene but a witness chased him and notified the authorities.
The pursuit came to a screeching halt when they collided. The contact caused White to fall backward and hit his head against a fence. The snowboarder was taken to Baptist Hospital where he was treated for injuries that included a black eye.
White was booked and released late Monday afternoon on his own recognizance. His court date is set for Oct. 10.
The two-time Olympic gold medalist was in town for the wedding of musician Patrick Carney. A guest at the wedding said that White was, “friendly and nice to everyone.”
White is a multimillionaire with a lucrative clothing line and signature video game. He has also branded skateboards, BMX bikes and other equipment.
When he isn’t making money he finds time to date model Bar Refaeli. No word on whether she accompanied him to the Nashville nuptials.
