Last night on Keeping Up with the Kardashians Season 12 Episode 15, the aftermath of Khloe and Lamar's second split finally aired.
In a word, it was heartbreaking and bittersweet.
Okay, that's two words ... and we could write two hundred words on the subject, if not two thousand. Khlomar is nothing if not komplicated.
Eh? See what we did there with the "k" theme? Anyway ...
There was a lot going on in this episode, from Kris Jenner trying to keep up with her daughters physically to Scott trying to bone Kourtney.
Khloe's struggle with Lamar was the crux of it, though.
The emotional crux, anyway; Khloe filed for divorce, again, and you could tell just how painful the entire experience has been on her.
She puts on a brave face, having resigned herself to the only outcome possible at this juncture. That doesn't make it any easier, though.
"I'm finalizing my divorce papers today with my lawyer, again, for the second time," she explained. "Lamar and I have spoken about it."
"We're both on board. Regardless if Lamar and I have spoken about it and that we're on the same page, it's still bittersweet," she added.
"I was holding out to help Lamar but Lamar's not helping himself so I have to do what's best for me and move on and just be done."
"There's no reason to hold on to this," she mused, because she's done everything she can and then some for her troubled husband.
Khloe kontinued in an emotional konversation with her sister Kourtney, who knows a thing or two about relationship heartbreak herself:
"It will always be love and I will always like love Lamar and be his friend but it's time for me to start the next chapter of my life."
Incredibly, she means it when she says she'll always be there for Odom. She references paperwork guaranteeing exactly that.
Khloe actually had a legal agreement drafted so that legally, if Lamar ever found himself in another huge health scare, she can help.
She will still be able to assist him and make medical decisions for him "no matter our marital status," she says, and well, we're speechless.
In a positive way.
Sure, we watch Keeping Up the Kardashians online and mock it endlessly for all the reasons we should. There are plenty of opportunities.
But this is extraordinary of her, and anyone who doesn't recognize what it says about Khloe Kardashian isn't giving her enough credit.
Given all that Khloe has been put through, it's hard to imagine anyone in her position going out of her way to be so loving and selfless.
Would you be?
After you relocated for your partner, supported him through good times and bad, and tried intervention after intervention to help him?
After he nearly died with a pair of hookers, then got caught smoking crack in your rental house after you nursed him back to health?
No one can deny how hard she fought for her marriage the first time, or fought for her spouse again after he overdosed at that brothel.
In no universe has she ever turned her back or made any moves regarding Lamar without giving him a chance. Or two, or 10 chances.
It's always been about them, not just her. Only after she had exhausted every fiber of her being trying to make it work did she relent.
Self-preservation. That's what this is, nothing more. If things could have been salvaged, a reconciliation would have happened. Not to be.
Yet even though she's decided once more that things will never be the same between them, Khloe's made it clear she's in his camp.
