Kate Gosselin revealed in a recent interview that one of her eight kids, Collin, is away receiving help with what she calls special needs.
But what does that entail exactly?
In this week's People cover story, the controversial reality star described how she came to a hard decision regarding one of her sextuplets.
Collin, it was revealed in the interview, has recently been enrolled in program away from home that "can help him reach his full potential."
What that program is, we can only guess.
"Collin has special needs," Kate said.
"[There's] a fairly fluid diagnosis of what those needs are, but he needs to learn certain strategies to help him deal with things."
"This has been a struggle we've had for a very long time, and it's one I've dealt with on my own," the 41-year-old mother of eight added.
"I've felt very alone in this. By the same token, it's not something that has only impacted me or him ... our entire family has been impacted."
Kate, who also said she regrets all of her meltdowns during the Kate Plus 8 heyday, has struggled with Collin in some form for years.
The warning signs go all the way back to six years ago, in 2010, when Collin was expelled from private school for behavioral issues.
There were also bombshell child abuse accusations against Kate as recently as March 2015, when she allegedly manhandled Collin.
At the other time, there was talk of Kate trying to discipline him extra hard, perhaps because he was a discipline problem. It's unclear.
The DCS investigation of Kate didn't go anywhere, but his past issues - whatever the cause, and however she dealt with it - have lingered.
In any case, we hope the young man is getting the help he needs, and that the whole family - mom, dad and kids - are in a good place.
We don't have to tell you that this hasn't always been the case, and that major obstacles remain for everybody going forward.
As much as we joke about Kate, or criticize her sometimes, whatever's going on with Collin clearly isn't a laughing matter.
We wish them all the best.
