Jimmy Fallon, meanwhile, took five minutes out of The Tonight Show on Tuesday to talk about how his eight grade teacher had predicted he would take over for Letterman someday.
He also recalled his final appearance on The Late Show and quoted Letterman verbatim from the latter's emotional first episode back after 9/11.
