There was a time when Kailyn Lowry and Javi Marroquin were one of the most beloved couples in the Teen Mom franchise.
Sadly, after a rocky three year marriage, Lowry and Marroquin called it quits, and these days, they’re attempting to navigate the choppy waters of amicable co-parenting.
They’ve met with mixed results, but we give them a world of credit for continuing to put their son’s needs ahead of their own.

Kailyn reveals bipolar disorder after fight with Javi
In early 2013, Kailyn revealed that she suffered from bipolar disorder, which she learned after going to therapy following a heated fight with Javi. Kailyn’s mother also suffers from bipolar disorder.
A fight becomes physical
In season 3, a fight turns physical when Kailyn grabs Javi’s face and pushes him away. “God, I f**king hate you,” Kail screamed, to which Javi screamed back, “And that’s why we’re f**king breaking up.”

Kailyn gave birth to son Lincoln in November of 2013.
Javi calls Kailyn a “bad mom,” Kailyn unloads
Kailyn went out one night with friends, and Javi scolded her, texting, “Your kids are here. You don’t need to stay that long. You are a bad mom. You need to think about your family.” In the clip above, Kailyn yells at Javi for ruining her night.
Javi gets deployed, divorce rumors begin
In January 2016, Javi was deployed overseas with the U.S. Air Force as divorce rumors began to circulate. Javi tweeted, “Love gets in the way of one’s vision sometimes that it’s not always the best choice,” making fans question his marriage to Kail.

Divorce chatter REALLY started heating up when Javi posted this pic of himself with a mystery woman to Instagram. We still don’t know who she is.
Kailyn tweets about marital trouble
After Javi posted the suspicious photo with mysto-lady, Kailyn tweeted, “You only realize how much you want something when you know you can’t have it,” which fans took as a hint at divorce.
Javi sexts another woman, then tweets about it!
We knew something was awry when Javi tweeted, “The snap I just sent @Kimberlyyy_Rene #onmycalvinkleinshhh.” Sounds like he sent another woman a pic of himself in his underwear. When asked about it by a fan, Kailyn tweeted, “Borderline inappropriate but it is what it is.”

Kailyn walked the red carpet of the MTV Movie Awards in April 2016 with her ex Jo Rivera, and she was NOT wearing an important piece of jewerly – her wedding ring.
Kailyn Lowry semi-confirms divorce
Kailyn curtly denied divorce rumors on Twitter, but then retweeted a fan who wrote, “Things happen, people grow apart. It’s life. Keep moving forward.” It was also around this time when she got dreadlocks in her hair. Time for a change?

Kailyn shared the pic above of herself with an unidentified male “friend,” and fans lost their crap.
Kailyn suspected of cheating with ex Jordan Wenner
Kailyn’s ex Jordan Wenner suggested that he hung out with Kail. ““@KailLowry it was great seeing you and catching up should totally do it again soon,” he wrote on Twitter. Kailyn played dumb, tweeting, “Lmfao, I just got back from la. How did I see you?” His response:
Javi blows off Kailyn on Mother’s Day
Since Kailyn is the mother of Javi’s son, you’d expect him to send a “Happy Mother’s Day” wish. However, he said nothing to Kail on social media, though he did send his own mother his love on Twitter, even though she doesn’t have an account.
Kailyn accused of cheating by Javi?
The couple fight on FaceTime during an episode of Teen Mom 2, and Kailyn swipes away a text from a Tyler Hill. Fans tell Javi, and he tweeted (then deleted), “Oh interesting. Same guy from last season.” Last season, Javi caught Kailyn texting another guy. However, Kailyn insisted that Tyler was just a friend.
Kailyn FINALLY confirms divorce
Kailyn finally confirmed that she and Javi were divorcing in late May 2016. “We’re trying to do the best we can for our kids because they are what really matters,” she told Daily Mail.
Was a miscarriage the final blow?
Kailyn opened up about a miscarriage she had last year. Javi apparently took his grief out on Kailyn, and she said that’s when things “spiraled out of control.”
The aftermath
Kailyn’s alleged cheating on Javi while he was overseas – followed by the shocking revelation that she got pregnant by another man soon after their split – led to some serious drama.

Like we said, it was ugly. There was even a protection from abuse order involved.

It has begun, as the dust settles and cooler heads prevail. We just pray it continues along this positive path.
Kailyn welcomes a third boy
Kailyn welcomed a third child in August of 2017. Javi initially threw some shade upon learning she was pregnant, but he’s since offered an olive branch and his full support.
Javi and Briana DeJesus?!
There have been reports that Javi and Teen Mom 2 co-star Briana DeJesus are dating. Kailyn is said to be less than pleased.
Javi & Kailyn: back together (sort of…)
It was recently announced that Javi and Kailyn will collaborate on a pair of memoirs, with each authoring a volume that will tell their side of the story. They might offer wildly different accounts of what went wrong, but at least they’re working together on something!
