Jenelle Evans is, without a doubt, one of the most controversial figures in the history of reality television.
She’s been accused of all manner of unsavory conduct over the course of her decade in the spotlight, but through it all, she’s maintained that anyone who really wants to know the truth about her life can get the straight facts from one source and one source only — Jenelle Evans.
To her credit, Jenelle has proven her honesty and consistency by admitting to behavior that would have left many reality stars hiding behind their publicists.
Recently, Jenelle briefly lost custody of her children in response to allegations that her husband, David Eason, shot and killed the family dog without reason.
It’s an appalling charge, and not surprisingly, Evans is eager to clear her name.
Safe at Home Following a series grueling custody hearings, Jenelle’s kids have been returned to her. But she’s still on trial in the court of public opinion.
David the Dad After weeks of legal wrangling, a family court judge dismissed David and Jenelle’s case, and Ensley, Kaiser, and Maryssa were back on The Land in time for Fourth of July weekend.
Together Again In photos shared exclusively with The Hollywood Gossip, Jenelle documents a life of quiet domesticity — her children bonding with their parents, with one another, and with the animals that make up such a crucial part of life on the Eason homestead. But it wasn’t easy to get back to this point …
The Nugget Scandal Back in April, it was reported that Jenelle’s beloved French bulldog Nugget was shot and killed by David after the dog allegedly became aggressive with the couple’s 2-year-old daughter Ensley.
Domino Effect This alleged act resulted in a CPS investigation which caused Jenelle and David’s children to be removed from their home.
Jenelle’s Version From the start, Jenelle maintained that she was irate with David for killing the dog, but forgave him with the understanding that his actions were prompted by a concern for his daughter’s safety,
Curveball On Thursday, however, a report from the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office seemed to indicate that Jenelle and David had faked the dog’s death as some sort of publicity stunt.
Suspicious Allegations From the outset, the conclusions in the report came under scrutiny — after all, why would the Easons set in motion a chain of events that would result in such profound legal consequences?
The Truth Now, Jenelle is setting the record straight about these bizarre allegations in an exclusive interview with The Hollywood Gossip.
The Dog Incident “I never made a report against David in the first place,” Jenelle told us exclusively. “The cops called me and left me voicemail asking me to call them back about the ‘dog incident.'”
The Report (MTV) When we asked about today’s police report and the allegations that she lied about the events of April 29, Evans had this to say:
Cutting to the Chase (Getty) “I called back the Chief of Police because he wanted to speak with me the beginning of May 2019. When I called him, before I can even speak, he said to me, ‘Mrs. Eason, I need to know the truth about this situation. I have many media outlets calling me about it and I want to tell you right now if this is a publicity stunt you need to tell me because I have other cases including things like rape that I have to deal with. If you are doing it for publicity then I understand and will close the case and you can go about your business.”
Clearing the Air “When I responded I told him, ‘Yes, what you heard is true about my dog. This isn’t a publicity stunt and I’m not sure where my dog is or what happened to my dog but you would have to call David and ask. I was inside my house with my kids when David went outside with the dog.'”
What Really Happened In the police report, Jenelle says she heard the gunshot, but did not see David shoot the dog. We asked her exactly what happened that fateful day, and here’s what she told us:
A Common Occurrence “I told them I hear gunshots all the time at my house and my neighbor down the road even shoots his cannon sometimes. Told them I don’t remember if I heard a gunshot or not. I never saw anything and was in the house with my kids the entire time (Ensley, Kaiser, and Maryssa),” Jenelle wrote in an email interview.
Maryssa on the Stand “Maryssa even got on stand in court, with the CPS case, and testified that the story of the dog did in fact happen. Not sure why the police would lie about this entire investigation,” Evans said of her 11-year-old stepdaughter. She then leveled this shocking allegation:
Police Conspiracy? “Detective Jacobs got on stand during court also and tried saying my house was ‘filthy’ and ‘cluttered’ when he conducted his search. My lawyer proved Detectives Jacobs wrong during his testimony by showing him my Ring camera of the night he was there and it showed my house to be spotless and no clutter.”
A Bold Allegation (MTV) “These police ended their ‘investigation’ a month ago and told David’s lawyer, Bill Gore, that they were closing the case. I honestly think they are doing this for their own publicity because they could have wrote up their “press release” weeks ago,” Jenelle told us. “I’ve never in my life dealt with a police department ever ‘releasing a press statement’ about their investigations. “
Attacked and Exploited (MTV) “I feel very attacked and exploited for no reason. The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office is so crooked with their business that Detective Jacobs continued to call and harass me and David for weeks, had Mr. Bill Gore send a letter to leave us alone, then had to call Detective Jacobs to tell him to stop calling both of us about the incident,” Jenelle said.
Physical Evidence Asked about the lack of physical evidence surrounding Nugget’s death, Jenelle told us, “That’s true. They didn’t find anything against me in any sort of way. I never broke the law to begin with.”
Speaking Her Truth “You would have to ask David what happened. I was not outside,” Evans continued. “No more details I want to share, just want to move on with my life. This was an incident that should have never went public to begin with.”
The Easons Jenelle recently commented that her relationship with David is stronger than ever. We asked about the state of her marriage, and she had this to say:
Rebuilding Year “He completed Anger Management Classes, we did Co-Parenting Classes together, and he stopped posting to social media for a while now. He will use Snapchat here and there but nothing too opinionated anymore. I think he really learned his lesson from all his past mistakes.”
The Proof Is Out There “We have footage of the entire search when the police came from two different angles,” Evans added. “One from David’s phone and one from mine. If the police want to keep up their lies we can post the truth some more.”
Setting the Record Straight (Getty Images for MTV) “Thanks for talking with me to get the truth out there! I really appreciate it!” Jenelle concluded. So that’s her story. Do with the information what you will.
