2015 Emmy Awards: Best & Worst Moments By Author Kay D. Rhodes at Sep 21, 2015 • Category Emmy Awards Game of Thrones made history. And so did Viola Davis.Andy Samberg made us laugh. And Tracy Morgan made us cry.Let’s rundown the best, worst and overall most memorable moments from the 2015 Emmy Awards, shall we?1The Opening NumberThere’s too much television! Andy Samberg opened the show with a song that focused on this topic and included cameos by Will Forte, Jon Hamm, Kerry Washington and Nathan Fillion, who mocked his own show.2Nun’s the Word!Jane Lynch made a funny appearance as the mean nun from Game of Thrones, who Samberg said would chant people with long speeches off stage. Shame, shame, shame…3Amy Poehler Does Win!No, never for Parks and Recreation somehow. But for always doing stuff like this and for being amazing.4And The Best Joke of the Night Goes To…“Paula Deen is on this season of Dancing With the Stars,” Samberg said in his monologue. “But I have to say, if I wanted to see an intolerant lady dance, I could’ve gone to one of Kim Davis’ four weddings.”5A Shocking ReturnWe did not expect to see Tracy Morgan on stage 15 months after a car accident nearly took his life. But this speec made us laugh and cry.6For LorneSeth Meyers and Andy Samberg spent way too long on an unfunny bit about how Lorne Michaels deserves a World’s Best Boss mug.7Missing Their MarksWe love Ricky Gervias, but his ongoing joke about not having won an Emmy simply went on for too long. And we love Jimmy Kimmel, but he ate the winner’s name in order to prove he could pick anyone he wanted for the trophy?!?8Spoiler Alert? In this age of binge-watching and Netflix, many viewers were upset that a series finale montage ruined the endings of the shows it was meant to honor.9Hi, We’re AmySo said Amy Poehler when these two took the stage, with Schumer added: “Let’s not forget what tonight is really about: Celebrating hilarious women and letting the Internet weigh in on who looks the worst.”10Well, That Was Awkward…Maybe Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard should stick to acting opposite each other on Empire. Their presentation of an award made it seem like neither wanted to be there, with Howard giving Henson a kiss on the cheek that she may not have wanted.11Crazy Eyes, Lots of HeartUzo Aduba is an amazing actress. But she was not acting when breaking down upon accepting the Emmy for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama. She earned in for Orange is the New Black.12HB… NO?Andy Samberg made a joke about HBO Go, even giving out actual account informatiom for people to steal. This was funny, but it also served pretty much as a free ad for HBO.13Tatiana Maslany Pulls a HelenaThis couldn’t have won its own Emmy? The Orphan Black star made like a clone she plays on that series and devoured a can of beans on the red carpet.14History. Made.Viola Davis became the first African-American to win Leading Actress in a Drama. She quoted Harriet Tubman in her speech and thanked other actresses of color – including Empire’s Taraji P. Henson, Scandal star Kerry Washington and Extant’s Halle Berry – for “taking us over that line.”15FINALLY!We have no idea how it took this long for Jon Hamm to win. But seeing Tina Fey present him with Leading Actor in a Drama and then watching him crawl on stage made the wait worthwhile.
