17 Characters Who Ruined Perfectly Good TV Shows

by at .

Event the best TV shows suffer from terrible characters sometimes.

And in one way or another, these 17 TV characters managed to ruin (or nearly ruin) shows that we otherwise loved.

Take a look below to see who they are!

1. Jo Wilson (Grey's Anatomy)

Jo Wilson (Grey's Anatomy)
Ugh. Grey's Anatomy has had its share of annoying characters, but Jo is pretty much the worst. Her character is not only whiny and unlikeable, but focus on her has taken away from characters we'd rather pay more attention to.

2. April Nardini (Gilmore Girls)

April Nardini (Gilmore Girls)
The addition of April Nardini as Luke's daughter on GIlmore Girls was WEIRD, and it felt like a forced way to throw a wrench in Luke and Lorelai's relationship.

3. Stuart Bloom (The Big Bang Theory)

Stuart Bloom (The Big Bang Theory)
There was nothing wrong with Stuart when he first appeared on The Big Bang Theory, but after a while, his presence just become depressing... and creepy.

4. Piper Chapman (Orange is the New Black)

Piper Chapman (Orange is the New Black)
The thing about Piper is, we liked her at first. She's the lead character we followed into Litchfield, and we watched as she adjusted to life in prison. But after the first season? Ugh. She changed for the worse, and now her stories just take away from the rest of the cast.

5. Marissa Cooper (The O.C.)

Marissa Cooper (The O.C.)
Marissa Cooper was a problem for The O.C. from the very beginning. Even though she was unbearable to watch, other characters managed to keep us coming back.

6. Connor (Angel)

Connor (Angel)
Things on Angel really took a turn when Angel and Darla's son Connor returned as a fully grown teenager, and not in a good way.

7. Dawn Summers (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)

Dawn Summers (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
But really, if we're talking about the Buffyverse, the character we really need to be talking about is Dawn. She arrived out of nowhere, with little explanation, and was mostly just an unnecessary and often annoying presence.

8. Nikki and Paulo (Lost)

Nikki and Paulo (Lost)
Seriously? Nikki and Paulo appeared on Lost out of nowhere, and only detracted from the rest of the characters. Thankfully, it didn't take long for these two to be killed off.

9. Jenny Humphry (Gossip Girl)

Jenny Humphry (Gossip Girl)
Jenny Humphry wasn't so bad in early seasons of Gossip Girl, but as show continued, her character lost purpose, and she just got more and more uninteresting to watch. That is, until her character left the show!

10. Piz (Veronica Mars)

Piz (Veronica Mars)
Wallace's new roommate, Piz, was kind of a drain on an otherwise remarkable show. Thankfully, Chris Lowell had other opportunities to play much less useless and annoying characters with shows like Private Practice and Enlisted.

11. Hazel Wassername (30 Rock)

Hazel Wassername (30 Rock)
30 Rock's Hazel was a problem for a lot of reasons. She was annoying and uncomfortable, taking the show in a direction that wasn't so much funny as it was awkward. Not to mention, her character was literally the downfall of TGS!

12. Betty Draper (Mad Men)

Betty Draper (Mad Men)
Oh, Betty. It's not her fault that she wasn't exactly the most interesting part of Mad Men, but as the seasons moved forward, the show probably could have done better without her.

13. Dawson Leery (Dawson's Creek)

Dawson Leery (Dawson's Creek)
Yes, yes, the show is literally called Dawson's Creek, but Dawson Leery was probably the worst part of it. He was insufferable, whiny, and basically just a drain on the rest of the series.

14. Laurel Lance (Arrow)

Laurel Lance (Arrow)
Laurel Lance's presence on Arrow never made much sense. Her character wasn't fully developed, and she only took away from everything else happening in Starling City.

15. Emily Waltham (Friends)

Emily Waltham (Friends)
It wasn't Emily's fault, not exactly, but her addition to Friends was definitely not a good thing. She was generally an obnoxious character, and she also derailed Ross and Rachel in a pretty dramatic way.

16. Vikram Singh (Castle)

Vikram Singh (Castle)
Castle Season 8 was a disaster ANYWAY, but Vikram's addition to the cast was one big reason that it went downhill -- fast. Not only did he take away from the main characters and effectively split up Kate and Beckett, but he did so without bringing anything meaningful to the show.

17. Skyler White (Breaking Bad)

Skyler White (Breaking Bad)
Breaking Bad's Skyler White quickly become one of the most unlikeable characters ever in the way she reacted to Walt's big secret. Granted, that had to be a hard thing to learn, but watching Skyler just become more and more unbearable.
