Rhonda Lyon - Empire
Rhonda was thrown down the stairs in her lavish home by Anika, leading to the loss of her baby, and by extension, a claim to the Lyon family fortune. In the aftermath, Anika tried to act like the person keeping Rhonda together, but Rhonda started to piece together what actually happened. In the end, she flew for Anika on top of a New York skyscraper, and Anika pushed her to her death. It was completely and utterly ridiculous and proved that Empire was doing anything to remain a highly rated show.
Derek Shepherd - Grey's Anatomy
Derek was killed off in a random episode that was not a midseason finale or even a season finale. It happened following eleven seasons of feels from him and his lover Meredith. What hurts the most? The show took a time jump following the death, robbing fans of time to grieve for the character. Patrick Dempsey's exit is still a mystery, and while we've been getting subtle hints, we may never know what really went on behind the scenes.
Laurel Lance - Arrow
Laurel Lance was the District Attorney who became a crime fighter. It was a ludicrous plot, but the myriad of hurdles she faced along the way made it worthwhile when she officially became the Black Canary. By that time, though, Katie Cassidy's screentime had vastly diminished, and the characters was killed off in a truly bizarre twist.
Jesus - The Walking Dead
In the comic books based on The Walking Dead, Jesus had a pivotal role. On the show, the character did very little. Jesus was the first significant kill from new villains, The Whisperers, but he died as a character who was woefully underdeveloped. The death came too soon.
Bonnie Bennett - The Vampire Diaries
Bonnie spent over a decade helping her friends get out of the most terrible situations, putting her love life on hold in the process. When she finally found a man she loved, he was killed by one of her best friends, Stefan. In the aftermath, she decided to travel the world. It was anticlimactic and a slap in the face to the fans.
Alison Argent - Teen Wolf
Alison had been going from strength-to-strength with her martial arts, but all of that came to a grinding halt when she was killed by Oni. She died in the arms of her first love, Scott, but it all felt a little too premature to take seriously.
