Making New York less ‘confusing’
» More Politics
To tourists, New York City may look the same everywhere you go (and we don’t mean Times Square), which means quiet pleasure for natives gawking at foreigners with lifesize maps sprawled open inside a payphone cabinet. And Mayor Bloomberg isn’t about to ease the situation.
He’s expected to sign legislation giving one private company the rights to install and maintain around 4,000 street structures, ranging from pay toilets and trash cans to newstand kiosks and bus shelters. They’ll all look the same, which Bloomberg expects to make the city more beautiful.
Our suggestion to making the city more beautiful: shut down The Bloor Store on 8th Ave in Chelsea. Even UESers will have a better day.
