Normally we envy the British for their heartless gossip industry, but now we’ve gotta give ’em props for sneaking paintings into New York’s finest museums – and managing, in several instances, to keep them there.
Artist Banksy snuck into the Brooklyn Museum, the Met, MoMA and the Museum of Natural History and installed his own works of art, complete with name plaque. Staff at the Met discovered the ploy on Sunday and removed the piece while MoMA let it remain for three days before realizing the Banksy work was, uh, out of place. Meanwhile, it appears the last two museums have yet to discover the con.
The prank, says Banksy, was all about the “judicious use of a fake beard and some high strength glue. They’re good enough to be in there, so I don’t see why I should wait.” Us either. (via Micro Persusasion)
