David Talbot using Kennedy book deal to leave Salon

Salon editor David Talbot must still be buzzing after that quarterly “profit” he manifested to improve investors’ waning interest in his online title. He’s capitalizing on the buzz (read: ignored press release) with a follow up to his grandness: a book deal on murdered Senator Robert F. Kennedy. While Talbot is on an “extended vacation” and wouldn’t comment much, sources say he’s planning to use the book’s authoring as an excuse to leave Salon after the presidential election. And with Salon’s stock price hovering around an egregious 21 cents, any size book deal sounds worth it.
