The doctor, sadly, is officially out at Fox.

The network canceled The Mindy Project last night, canceling one of the funniest comedies on television after three hilarious seasons.

Despite its loyal and passionate fan base, The Mindy Project was never able to break through and establish a strong run of ratings.

But there may be hope that the hilarious adventures of Dr. Mindy Lahiri, Dr. Danny Castellano and company will continue online.

Variety confirms that Hulu is in talks to pick up the series for multiple new seasons, which would be a bold but also logical step.

The streaming service owns the rights to The Mindy Project and would benefit greatly from getting it to the syndication-friendly 100-episode mark.

Neither Fox nor Universal TV has commented on this sad news, but allow THG to do so at this time: BOOO! HISS! THIS SUCKS!

Considering some of the other shows that have long passed their prime and should be canceled (see below), this is a tough pill to swallow.
