Tragic news today out of Hollywood:

E’Dena Hines, the 33-year old step-granddaughter of legendary actor Morgan Freeman, was found stabbed to death outside of her apartment in New York City.

According to People Magazine, an unidentified 30-year-old man was taken into custody at the scene and transported to Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center.

The New York Police Department confirms via statement that officers found E’Dena Hines lying in the street outside her residence on the 400 block of W. 162nd Street around 3 a.m. on Sunday.

She was suffering from multiple stab wounds to her torso at the time.

Hines, the granddaughter of Morgan’s first wife, was taken by EMS to Harlem Hospital and later pronounced dead, according to the NYPD. 

An investigation into the crime is ongoing.

"The world will never know her artistry and talent, and how much she had to offer," Morgan said. "Her friends and family were fortunate enough to have known what she meant as a person.

"Her star will continue to shine bright in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. May she rest in peace."
