Tom Hanks was chatting it up with ‘Good Morning America’ host Elizabeth Vargas Friday morning when he let loose with an f-bomb.
The actor was doing a guest appearance to promote ‘Cloud Atlas,’ a sci-fi adventure flick scheduled for release in U.S. theaters Oct. 26, when things took a bad turn.
After watching a brief film clip featuring Hanks’ British character going off on a rant, host Vargas asked him if he could speak in that accent.
Hanks replied, “Oy, mostly it’s swear words.” She quipped, “If you say it with an accent like that, they won’t know.”
So he took up the challenge and started to speak as his character had and inadvertently blurted out the f-word.
Vargas immediately apologized to viewers, “We are so sorry, Good Morning America.”
The actor said lamely, “Man, oh man, I’m sorry. I have never done that before. I want to apologize to the kids in America watching right now. And let me say the next time I’m on the show there will be a seven-second delay… Man oh man!”
