New England Patriots QB Tom Brady was involved in a two-car crash at 6:30 a.m. this morning, just three blocks from his home, while driving his Audi on the way to a walk-through practice.
A passenger in a minivan had to be freed by a Jaws of Life device and was transported to Brigham & Women’s Hospital with serious but not life threatening injuries, according to Boston Fire Department spokesman Steve MacDonald.
Reports indicate that Brady was traveling south and approached an intersection on a green light when his black Audi collided with a fast-moving red Ford Aerostar that was westbound. The accident knocked over a light pole and remains under investigation.
The team confirmed the news on Twitter and Facebook, and team spokesman Stacey James said that after being attended by Patriots team physicians, the NFL star attended practice with the rest of the team.
The Patriots open their season at home Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals. Brady is entering the final year of a $57.3 million six-year deal.
