No longer a mystery …

The Biggest Loser Season 11 Couples 4 premiered last night on NBC. Eleven couples were introduced and put through their paces. Their biggest challenge was picking their trainers.

Five teams went with the unknown trainers and received four weeks of guaranteed immunity: Yellow, Red, Brown, Pink and Grey. Clinging to the proven results of Bob and Jillian and no immunity were: Purple, Black, Aqua, Green, Blue and Orange.

The player sent home was Orange team member Ana Alvarado, 50, of Portland, Oregon. She and daughter Irene landed below the yellow line and as with most mother-daughter duos, Ana lobbied to save her child and sacrificed her own opportunity on the ranch.

This year the show is pitting Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels against two mystery trainers. The two groups are training and living separately for now. During Week 1, the sequestered group with the new trainers had better weight loss numbers with an amazing 238 pounds shed – an average of nearly 24 pounds per contestant.

So who are these upstarts? One of the new employees brought to the ranch is Brett Hoebel, a celebrity trainer who is the creator of RevAbs, a workout and diet plan that tones the body in 90 days. He uses Afro-Brazilian Capoeira and Muay Thai kickboxing along with Western strength training.

The female mystery trainer is Cara Castronuova — a two-time Golden Gloves champion. She is Italian-Chinese and hails from New York and is dabbling in acting, appearing in an episode of Law and Order. She was featured on the History Channel in a segment called Warrior Women.

For all of you Jillian Michaels fans, this will be her last season on the show. She recently talked about her decision and the fact that she would be training her replacement during Season 11.
