Robin Roberts delivered a special taped message Thursday on ‘Good Morning America,’ to mark the day she will receive her bone-marrow transplant.

The eight day course of intense chemotherapy has taken a toll on Roberts, leaving her exhausted according to her doctor.

The popular television personality was sporting a pink baseball cap as she spoke slowly from her New York hospital bed on the day that she will forevermore consider her “new birthday.”

She said, “This journey is as much about the mind as it is the body. Your thoughts …. are so powerful. You’ve got to change the way you think in order to change the way you feel. And let me just say this lastly. I feel the love and I thank you for it. Thank you.”

Her physician, Dr. Gail Roboz, reported that “medically speaking, she is doing fantastic.” Then the specialist noted, “I think she misses her mother.”

Lucimarian Tolliver Roberts died Aug. 30. Robin postponed her bone marrow transplant journey for a week in order to fly home to Mississippi to say goodbye to her mother and attend her funeral.
