Randy Travis has achieved an arrest trifecta after being cited last night for assault outside of Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, Texas.

The country crooner got into a scuffle with his girlfriend’s estranged husband while the trio were standing in the church parking lot at 10:30 p.m. Thursday evening.

Plano police spokesman David Tilley said that officers determined that it was a “mostly verbal” argument between Travis and an estranged husband and wife.

Tilley added, “During our investigation we determined Mr. Travis at some point physically assaulted the husband. He was issued a citation for Class C simple assault, which in Texas can be anything from an unwanted push to a strike that didn’t cause pain or injury. Everyone refused transport. Nobody wanted to go to the hospital.”

“Everyone is making the assumption that he was intoxicated, as TMZ put it. I’ve got the report, and there’s no indication he was intoxicated at all. Was he? I don’t know, but the report doesn’t say he was.”

Travis was arrested two weeks ago and charged with a felony that involved a one-car accident, nudity and verbal threats against police officers.

In February he was charged with public intoxication for drinking in a car outside of a different Baptist Church. He told police he had a fight with his girlfriend while they were watching the Super Bowl at an area bar.
