Rachael Ray presents a check to a needy shelter…
TV chef Rachael Ray is getting into the holiday spirit by helping pets in need. The talk show host will be donating 100% of the proceeds from her Nutrish and Just 6 pet food and treat lines to animal shelters nationwide — giving away a total of $775K before December 31.
Rachael said, “If you want to look at the state of humans, you should look at the state of animals first. People are choosing whether or not they can feed an animal and their entire family. And every shelter coast to coast is stuffed.”
The proceeds will only go to no-kill shelters, the goal is to keep as many animals alive as possible. Ray has her own pit bull pup named Isaboo and started giving charitable donations for animals back in 2008.
She suggests that the next time you are at the grocery store or pet store, buy an extra can or bag of food and donate it to your local shelter.
