The case against Paris Hilton was filed today by Clark County D.A. David Roger in Las Vegas. She is being charged with a felony for possessing a controlled substance – .8 grams of cocaine. If convicted she could face four years behind bars.
The filing stated that Hilton “willfully, unlawfully, feloniously, knowingly, and intentionally possessed a controlled substance – cocaine.”
According to a Radar Online source: “Roger won’t tolerate celebrities coming to Las Vegas and thinking they can get away with illegal behavior. It’s going to be extremely difficult for Paris to get out of these charges, even with the brilliant legal skills of her high-profile lawyer David Chesnoff.”
A police report indicates that an officer stopped Cy Waits‘ Cadillac Escalade after he pulled up alongside the passenger side and smelled “the strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.”
A crowd of 100 people recognized the socialite and gathered. Hilton was “extremely embarrassed” and told the officer that she needed to use the bathroom “badly” at the Wynn Hotel.
The officer escorted her into the building. She told the cop that she needed lip balm and dug into her handbag. He wrote in his report: “As she began to open it, I saw a small bindle of what I believed to be cocaine in a clear baggie begin to fall from the purse and into my hand.”
Also discovered inside the purse were credit cards and $1,300 in cash, plus a “broken tablet of Albuterol”, a prescription medication to control wheezing. There were also Zig Zag wrappers used to roll joints.
Hilton laid claim to most of what was found in the purse, but denied that the cocaine was hers and said the purse was borrowed from a friend. The arresting officer reported: “She said she had not seen it, but now thought it was gum.”
She ‘tweeted’ a message on Sunday: “I’m so thankful to all my fans for all the love and support you are giving me. Thank you all. Love you so much. Love Paris xoxo.”
