5th Grade Chorus led by the amazing Mr. B …

One of the highlights of the 83rd Annual Academy Awards took place during the last few minutes of the live Sunday night telecast when the 5th grade chorus from PS22 in Staten Island, New York took the stage to perform Over the Rainbow.

The musical group, under the direction of Gregg “B” Breinberg, is comprised of 10-year-old kids from blue collar neighborhoods. The chorus were formed in 2000 with a constantly evolving group of 5th graders, who in recent years have gained national attention via YouTube, with 29 million video views.

Mr. “B”, a veritable pied piper, calls this year’s group of 60-70 performers “the coolest, kindest, and most talented kids ever.”
