Suffice it to say that things are not all sunshine and roses with the cast of the popular ABC sitcom ‘Modern Family.’

Five cast members filed suit in Los Angeles Superior Court Tuesday against 20th Century Fox Television in an effort to have their current contracts voided.

Included in the litigation are Ty Burrell, Julie Bowen, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet and Sofia Vergara.

Four of the actors are locked into contracts that have a 4% annual salary cap, and Vergara has a slightly better deal at 5% per year.

They claim their contracts are illegal under California’s Seven-Year-Rule because their deals are for a slightly longer time period.

ABC has offered the actors $150,000 per episode, with a $50,000 bonus per episode for the upcoming fourth season, and a flat $200,000 for season five. The award winning cast believes they are worth far more than what is currently on the table and have taken steps to force the issue.

What about Ed O’Neill? The star apparently negotiated a far more lucrative deal separately and doesn’t have a salary beef but he totally supports his fellow actors in their lawsuit.
